Melissa Harris-Perry did a great segment on Mississippi attempting to shut down its only abortion clinic.

Of course, most people in Mississippi have had to go outside the state for an abortion for a while now - one clinic cannot serve everyone. You also know things are messed up when a doctor from DC has to fly into Mississippi to make sure people can get the legal procedure they need.

Jamil Smith, at the MHP blog, has provided a great follow-up to yesterday’s segment, where he explains why a judge put a restraining order on this Mississippi law (keeping the clinic open…for now) and why the whole thing is just so very, very wrong.

Like I say a lot, including earlier today, Mississippi shutting down all abortion clinics in the state will not end abortion, just safe abortions.
